YEHDI was incorporated in March, 2007 with the registered number
CAC/IT/NO/23448. Youth Empowerment and Human Development Initiative
YEHDI is a non profit making, non religious, non partisan Non Governmental
Organisation NGO. YEHDI was established in January 2003 and registered with the
Corporate Affairs Commission. Youth Empowerment and Human Development
Initiative is a youth focused organisation, with its main interest in education, health
and economic empowerment of young people, especially in rural communities.
YEHDI is led by a Executive Director and a team of coordinators for each of the
organisations thematic focus; Education, Adolescent and Reproductive Health, Youth
and Economic Empowerment. A seven member Board of Directors oversee the
activities of the organisation. YEHDI aims at empowering women and youth to
articulate, demand and access their rights by enhancing women's leadership and
focusing on issues of sexuality, reproductive and sexual rights, and violence against
women, and social justice.
VISION
Empowering of 50% young people in Kano State and 40% in northern Nigeria
through affecting policies on Education and Public Health by the Year
2015.Complemented with enabling Environment Physical, Social, Democratically and
economically, Politically and educationally.
MISSION
It is necessary to advance and provide basic and development skills to our youth so as
to achieve self reliant and substantial focus to youth concern Health issues and any
other life aspect as related to development and decision making of young people.
FUTURE FOCUS
*To have educated and responsible society with positive attitude in promoting
Education and Public Health.
*To achieve positive change in youth and women through building their self-esteem
to enable them make an informed decision about their life, career and their future.
*To sustain change through active involvement of youth and women within our
communities.
*To break challenges by empowering youth and women with in formations and access
to reproductive health services and for them to appropriate their roles in the society.
*To extend activities into outreach and neighboring states with similar socio-cultural
and youth settings.
